Our Approach to Voice Lessons at Music & Dance Academy

We cover breathing, diaphragm control, vocal anatomy, posture, vocal support, tone creation, and diction in our voice classes. Pitch, sight-singing, ear training, music theory, agility, projection, timing, and phrasing are all included in the instruction.

Early education for young children consists of pitch exercises, rhythm games, and easy songs to help them develop a musical ear. Students who want to be in the music industry will receive help with acting, staging, and voice coaching in order to prepare them for the audition process.

Music & Dance Academy provides performance opportunities throughout the year with professional accompanists. Many students find that voice study improves their public speaking, school performance, and other art forms.

Voice Lessons Should Be Fun!

Finding your own voice is one of life’s great pleasures – and learning how to use it makes that feeling even sweeter! At The Music & Dance Academy, we want every student to LOVE their music lessons and find fulfillment in learning how to sing.

Our voice teachers create a positive and supportive learning environment where you can succeed, no matter your starting point or level of experience. Whether you are singing in a choir, a musical theatre ensemble, as a soloist, or just in the car, our experienced teachers can help you build confidence and have fun, while working on music you enjoy.

We Emphasize Healthy Technique

Singing may look simple enough, but the voice is a complex series of systems that form an expressive and delicate living instrument inside of each of us. Perhaps more than any other musical discipline, having an experienced voice teacher to assist you in training these processes to work together is key to a healthy, lifelong enjoyment of singing.

The Music & Dance Academy’s highly-trained instructors will assist you in learning strong fundamentals including proper breathing, diction, resonance, stage presence, and non-verbal expression. We strive to ensure that our voice students become literate musicians, so lessons will also include discussions of music theory, history, and rhythm. Mastering these technical basics will broaden your horizons and allow you to explore many different styles and genres of music in the future!

We teach all styles of singing, including musical theatre, classical, contemporary/pop, jazz, country, and folk. Your voice is unique – and therefore, your instruction should be, too. What Is a Good Age to Start Voice Lessons?

The minimum age we recommend a student start voice lessons is around 6 years old. Many parents want their child to start much younger, but a voice lesson that focuses strictly on technique can be very challenging on younger vocal cords that have not yet developed. We are happy to help you learn more and determine if your child is ready!

Teens and adults are welcome and may also want to include voice lessons with another instrument they are learning. Professional singing lessons can be very beneficial, especially if you learn from a talented teacher. The Music & Dance Academy provides the best vocal coaching in Tucson, AZ. Whether you’re looking to take lessons yourself or are looking for a voice teacher for your son or daughter, you will receive the following benefits and more.

Do I need any prior experience?

There’s no need to be intimidated by trying something new – especially at The Music & Dance Academy. We welcome all musicians, from beginners to advanced professionals and everyone in between. You won’t find a more comfortable or supportive environment to learn a challenging instrument in than our music school in Tucson, AZ.

The #1 Reason to Take Voice Lessons at The Music & Dance Academy?

Our voice instructors work with each student and parent on a personal level to craft a lesson plan that fits the student’s individual needs and favorite type of music.

Whether you’re a singer in a band, a seven-year-old taking their first lesson, or a fifty-year-old returning to singing after many years, our friendly, dedicated teachers will share their love of popular music and help you set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.

At The Music & Dance Academy, our private voice teachers focus equally on popular music, musical theatre, and classical training. Whether you aspire to perform in a band, star in musical theatre, or pursue classical singing, we provide comprehensive training to meet your goals and nurture your love for music.

What Styles of Singing Do You Teach?

If you have always wanted to be a better rock, pop, country, jazz, gospel, theatre, or R&B singer, then we have the right voice teachers for you! Voice students spend time each week doing physical exercises to improve their vocal range, ear training, breath control, vibrato, tone production, enunciation, and more.

All voice students set goals with their teacher to work on sounding like their favorite recording artists, preparing for a theatre audition, or if they prefer, to develop their own unique voice. You will discover our voice teachers are fun and patient when you take voice lessons at Music & Dance Academy.

How Qualified Are Your Voice Instructors?

Our voice lesson instructors have received their musical education from prestigious institutions all over the country!

They bring professional performance and teaching experience to your lessons. Many of our students report that they feel more confident after our lessons. While singing in front of a group of people can be nerve-wracking, working with a coach regularly can help to assuage some of those fears. If your anxieties are keeping you from singing, one of our coaches may be able to give you the encouragement that you need.

When you work with a coach, you’ll receive constructive feedback on the way you sing. Your teacher will work to keep you motivated and will teach you techniques that will help you remain poised and collected when you sing in front of others.
