Dance Dress Code

We want our dancers to feel comfortable, confident, and ready to move! Below are the dress
code guidelines for each program. Pink or skin-tone tights and ballet shoes are welcome,
and dancers should choose clothing that allows teachers to clearly see movement and alignment.

Ballet

Ballet — Alternative Attire

Dancers may choose black bottoms, a white fitted or movement-friendly top, and black ballet shoes as an
alternative to the traditional leotard and tights.

Tap & Jazz

Black shorts, black leggings, or appropriate dancewear in your level color.
Please choose clothing that allows teachers to see alignment and movement.

Contemporary

Leggings, shorts, or sweatpants in our black color palette.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop Intro
Black sweatpants, leggings, or joggers + purple top

Hip Hop 1A
Black sweatpants, leggings, or joggers + light blue top

Hip Hop 1B
Black sweatpants, leggings, or joggers + dark blue top

Music & Dance Academy merchandise may be worn in place of the assigned hip hop shirt color.

Adult Classes

Wear athletic wear or dancewear that feels comfortable and appropriate for class.
Clothing should allow for full range of movement and allow teachers to see alignment and technique.

A Few Dress Code Reminders

• Hair should be secured away from the face.
  Ballet students should wear their hair in a bun.
• Please avoid claw clips during class.
• Hip hop dancers should have dedicated dance sneakers
  that are separate from playground or school shoes.
• Please do not wear sandals, street shoes, or clothing that restricts movement.
