About Jay (Justin)
Jay is an adaptive saxophonist, teacher, composer and multi-instrumentalist from the Philadelphia region with a Bachelor of Music in Instrumental Performance and a Master of Arts in Teaching Music Education, both from the University of the Arts. Jay plays in a variety of ensembles including Party Bands, Jazz Quintets and Big Bands.
Jay believes in providing a holistic approach to music education, tailoring his instruction directly to the needs of the individual student. Jay provides his students with strong technical foundations in saxophone, flute and clarinet as well as ear training and music theory. Jay enjoys musical genres including but not limited to Jazz, R&B, Bluegrass, Rock, Pop, Rap, Funk and Classical.
Jay’s favorite musicians include Michael Brecker, Troy Roberts, Robert Glasper, Kurt Elling, Ben Wendel, Avishai Cohen and Vincent Herring.
