Musical Show Choir is a 90-minute group class specifically designed for vocalists aged 7 and up who are interested in performing musical theater. Students can perform for their peers and a master vocalist instructor in the first segment of the class, which is ideal for those preparing for spring theater auditions.
The later segment and majority of the class will gather students together to perform and practice their favorite works from popular themed repertoire. The course will conclude with a big performance in June.
Schedule:
– Saturdays at 1:00 PM
– Class Duration: 90 Minutes
– Show Date: TBA
Classes will begin on January 4th and run through to the end of June, with a big performance at the end.
Tuition: $99 per Month
Early Bird Registration: Register before January 1st to receive a 15% discount on monthly tuition for the length of the program (Jan-June)!
Cost of Materials for Class: $25 – first month only.
Show Teacher – Ms. Jaime Maraviglia
Our Musical Show Choir will be led by The Modern Music Academy’s Ms. Jaime Maraviglia, our resident musical theater enthusiast. Ms. Jaime has been teaching at The Modern Music Academy since 2015, where she primarily offers lessons in voice, piano, and ukulele. She holds a B.A. in Theatre Performance with a minor in Dance from Wagner College and a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Montclair State University.
As a performing artist, her most recent stage credits include Legally Blonde at The Barn Theatre in Montville, Trial By Jury with Light Opera of New Jersey, and Aesop’s Fables with The Women’s Theater Company. In 2014, she was part of the national tour of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story as an actor and musician.
Throughout her years at TMMA, she has coached The Uke Group, a beginner music ensemble, along with various other ensembles and groups that integrate voice, theater, and dance. She tailors her lessons to her students’ unique interests and goals while providing a strong foundation in technique and lifelong skills in music. Ms. Jaime is passionate about nurturing students, building their confidence, and igniting their love for the arts!
Ms. Jaime has directed and choreographed youth productions at regional theaters, summer theater programs, and other youth programs, including Surflight Theatre, Mainstages, Greenbrier Valley Theatre, and Papermill Playhouse. Some of those productions include “Seussical,” songs from “West Side Story,” several children’s theater productions, and showcases/variety shows. She is currently the music teacher and choreographer for the CWC Summer Enrichment Program and has been for the past three years.
As co-director of the spring theater productions at Grover Cleveland Middle School, Ms. Jaime has co-directed shows such as Shrek, Once Upon a Mattress, and You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. She is thrilled to work with our Musical Show Choir and to share her love of musical theater with the Musical Theater Stars of the future!
