New Summer Policy: Half-Off Lessons You Can’t Make!

Middle C is instituting a new summer lessons policy! Starting on May 1st, each student will have three half-credits that they can use if they’re not able to make a lesson or they’re not able to reschedule one. All you have to do to redeem this is let us know at any point before your lesson that you won’t be able to make it in, whether it’s two weeks ahead of time or five minutes before the lesson, and we can process a half-credit for that lesson which will appear on your next monthly bill.

This policy will run from May 1st to August 30th, and you will have a total of three half-credits that you can use through that time.

Q&A

Why a half-credit?

We know how hectic your schedule can be, and we also know how tight our own teachers’ schedules can be, too. This can make rescheduling lessons challenging. Our goal is to create a policy that decreases the burden placed on students, while still continuing to pay our teachers for their time, hence the half-credit (as opposed to a full credit).

How are reschedules affected?

Our reschedule policy is unchanged. We still require 24 hours’ notice of an absence for a student to be eligible to reschedule a lesson. And the reschedule eligibility period is still 30 days out from the initial missed lesson. But now, if you opt to reschedule a lesson and we’re not able to find something on your teacher’s schedule, you can redeem a half-credit. As in, you don’t need to choose immediately if you want to use a half-credit or not for an absence; you can decide to use it retroactively, as long as you are opting to use it within the 30 day reschedule period – and as long as we initially received notice that you would be out before the lesson.

What if I’m sick?

If you or your child is sick for a lesson, you can still redeem one of your half-credits for that! We just ask to be notified before the lesson (5 minute grace period when your lesson starts) if you want to use one. You can use these half-credits for a planned or an unplanned absence. But we will not be able to use a half-credit if you notify us after your lesson that you will be unable to make it.

Note: Our teachers are always equipped to teach virtual lessons, in case you/your child doesn’t want to come into Middle C to take the lesson, but still feels up to taking it, virtually! Just give us a call at (202) 244-7326 and we can set that up.

Can I receive a refund instead?

At this time, we will only be processing half-credits for these lessons, and will be unable to process a refund/half-refund. However, while we will default to crediting your next monthly lesson bill, you can also choose to use the half-credit for store credit, to buy anything you’d like at Middle C!

How about rental credit?

We are not currently applying lesson half-credits to monthly rental bills.
