Samer Chiaviello is an award-winning classical string instrumentalist, independent artist, and composer based in the Washington, D.C., area. With a classically-trained background, Samer specializes in cello, violin, viola, and piano with 10-plus years of professional and technical experience in the music and film industry.
In 2017, Samer Chiaviello won Best Solo for the WorldStrides Heritage Music Festival in Nashville, Tenn., for his solo rendition of classics by Stevie Wonder. Samer Chiaviello won Best New Artist for the 2022 Lincoln Center Legacy Concert Series in New York City, where he performed works by Bach, Beethoven, and Kreisler.
A dynamic and holistic string musician, Samer obtained his Bachelor of Music from the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music in 2022 with a course concentration on film and fine arts. During his academic career Samer spent 6 years living in the heart of Brooklyn where he learned the greatest classical works and worked closely with seasoned instructors and some of the best musicians and composers in the classical music scene in New York. In addition, Samer also studied filmmaking and score composition during his time in New York and obtained hands on experience working on set and editing rooms.
Well rounded in a multitude of genres, Samer is also a composer and songwriter for film and media. In 2022 Samer won Best Original Score for his short film “Stamp of the Derelict” at the 48 Hour Film Festival. With a strong background in horror and comedy genres, Samer’s compositional style reflects the golden age of 70’s horror combined with an electronic style that evokes Hans Zimmer and Ludwig Göransson. His recent works include short films “Another Day in New York” and “Douen II” a horror short film based on Trinidadian folklore. Samer also specializes as an electric violinist in the DC/DMV area. An independent artist (spelled “SAM€R”), Samer boasts a niche performance-based set that that crosses a heavy metal distortion with trap-style instrumentation and scorching reverb, resulting in a dark, moody, and original sound.
