About Gene Isayev
Teaching on Tuesdays
Gene graduated from State Music College of Grodno (Belarus), with degree in flute performance, flute teaching and band conducting. After playing flute for two years with Mozhaiski Military Academy Orchestra of St. Petersburg, Russia, from 1988, he continued his music education, getting his MMA at the State University of Arts and Culture in Minsk, Belarus. Gene is very versatile and has experience playing different styles of music – classical, folk, jazz, reggae, blues and rock. As a part of music education Gene studied piano in college. He used this skill teaching beginners and playing keyboards with cover, alternative rock and blues bands.
He has performed in Europe for many years with different music ensembles, bands and orchestras. In 1993 his family moved to USA where he successfully continues to be a part of music communities and music education. Gene has been teaching woodwind instruments with passion since 1987, he started at the Grodno Music School #1 (Belarus) where he had his first lesson, and then continued his teaching career from 1994 to present days here in US.
A number of his students pursued their education in music, played in prestigious youth orchestras and participated in different competitions winning top spots and prizes. Gene is still an active musician, playing and recording in different styles of music with number of groups and solo artists around Philly and Tri-State area.
Fun fact, – Gene’s a huge fan of soccer, his favorite club since he was 14yo was, is, and always be Manchester United.
