About Luke Varagas
Luke began his journey with music at age 5 and has continued it for over a decade. After starting private flute lessons his interest became a passion and music became the center of his life. In high school Luke worked with his directors to help grow the music programs and create a better learning environment. He went on to work with another school in his senior year to play in their honors symphonic band as principal flutist, traveling Northern California and playing at various competitions, festivals, and exhibitions. Currently Luke is studying under Dr. Ray Furuta as a flute performance major at San Jose State University, looking to learn as much as possible and pass on his knowledge to a future generation of flutists. While his background is mostly classical, Luke has played and performed a wide variety of music covering orchestral, wind ensemble, contemporary, percussion ensemble, jazz, and chamber which creates an open and welcoming environment for any student and their personal interests.
