About Diane Handler
Diane studied voice for twenty (20) years, starting with Therese Longergan, then continuing with Emily McKnight at Milikin University, Phyllis Curtin at Boston University, and Lucille Halfvarson and Neva Baily at Chicago’s Merit Music School. Diane also studied piano for ten (10) years. Although classically trained, she sang in a band for several years and performed in many theater productions, so she appreciates a wide range of musical styles and genres. Diane is a strong proponent of music education for all and believes the arts and creative pursuits can enrich everyone’s life.
Diane hopes to instill a lifelong love of music in her students. She will emphasize singing fundamentals including correct posture, breathing, pitch, rhythm, tone, diction, dynamics, and vocal health. As the student progresses, Diane will also work on movement and performance strategies.
