About Eric Boyd
Eric has been an active musician for 3 decades, playing with original rock, blues, and indie acts across the country, and was active in the LA/Las Vegas session scene for close to a decade. Currently, Eric writes and produces original music for the indie-americana artist, Pearl Oakes, and performs with Colorado based grassy-americana band, Wood Belly. Eric has studied drums and percussion privately with renowned instructors, Claus Hessler and JP Bouvet. His major influences include drummers Steve Gadd, Jeff Porcaro, Stanley Moore, Ash Soan, and Jojo Mayer. A groove drummer at heart, Eric continues to study progressive and modern drum set techniques rooted in rudimental tradition and approach. Eric is a great proponent of an ergonomic and efficient approach to drumset and percussion performance. He promotes limb interdependence with his instruction, encouraging his students to explore new and exciting ways to approach musical phrasing, groove, speed, and power — serving the music first to find consistent success in any playing situation.
