About Chris Weist

Chris Weist is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and sound engineer born and raised in the Appalachian hills of Pennsylvania. While his musical foundation began with drums, his journey has taken him across the country as a touring musician, most notably with Colorado’s Wood Belly—a nationally recognized bluegrass/Americana quintet winning the 2018 Telluride Bluegrass band competition and sharing stages with some of the genre’s giants. As primary songwriter, lead singer, mandolinist, and later guitarist for the band, Chris has worn many hats in the industry and has accumulated a wealth of knowledge on the practical steps to becoming a great working musician. Beyond the stage, he is passionate about music education, striving to ignite joy and creativity in his students through personalized instruction and tailored applicable curriculums that foster a lifelong love of music. When he’s not teaching, Chris enjoys making music with friends, hiking, photography, reading, cycling, and swimming.
