Recitals are designed to give musicians consistent and gradual performance experience. It is extremely important that you have POSITIVE performing experiences. Often students are pushed to perform when they are not ready, and this can be damaging. Here at the Academy, we stress that recitals are optional. One of the many benefits of being an Academy student is that we host recitals every 6 months.

Recitals are included in your tuition, and we do not charge any admission or participation fees for our recitals. Bring your family and friends!

We are excited for a fun outdoor performance! This venue has a great stage bordered by beautiful Lake Loveland, and plenty of parking and seating space. Bring your fans to cheer you on! Photography/video recording are allowed during the performance.

*This is an outdoor event. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. We recommend that you also bring sun protection, umbrellas, water, etc for your comfort. Please allow plenty of time to park and get settled.*

Performers: Please say hi to our staff at the Academy check-in table when you arrive. We’ll direct you to the reserved seating especially for our performers; you’ll be seated in order of performance. Seats will be numbered from 1-15; simply find the seat with the number corresponding to your order in the program (if you are the third performer, you’ll sit in seat 3). We’ll also have you check in with your teacher at the same time.

The Academy is OPEN for lessons as usual during both recital weekends. This means that our instructors are both teaching lessons AND supporting performers. Students are assigned to specific recital blocks so that your teacher can attend your performance.

FAQ’s

Is the recital at the Academy?

NO. It will be held at the Hammond Amphitheater, which is outdoors in North Lake Park, Loveland. Bring chairs or a blanket to sit on, umbrellas, water, and sun protection as well!

Which recital am I performing in?

How long will the performance be?

We keep our performances short and sweet, about 30-50 minutes long. We offer many different performance times to best accommodate all our students. Each recital will have no more than 18 performers so that you can enjoy the performance, then go and celebrate!

When should I arrive?

Plan to arrive at least 20 minutes before your recital time, to find parking and get settled. Performers, stop by our check-in table for instructions. You’ll also want to meet with your teacher when you arrive, to make sure you’re prepared and get ready to rock!

May I invite my family or friends?

Yes, please invite your supporters to cheer you on!

What should I bring?

Your instrument, sheet music, and a smile! We’ll provide piano and drums. Drummers, bring your drumsticks!

Is the showcase only for kids?

No, we love having our adult students perform as well!

Should I memorize my piece?

Talk with your teacher. Memorization is not required, but is sometimes recommended. If you memorize, please bring your sheet music anyway for security.

What if I am using a backing track?

Talk with your teacher. They’ll help you edit the track as needed, and ensure that it is given to our staff in preparation for your performance.

What should I wear?

You may wear any clothes that show respect. Many students like to dress up. Casual clothes and jeans are fine, but please no revealing clothing.

Are there any fees?

No, we do not charge admission or other fees for our recitals.

Can we take pictures of our students as they perform?

Yes, you may video/photograph. Be careful not to distract the performer, but we know you’ll want to document this important day!
