About Ted McManus
Ted McManus graduated Summa Cum Laude from Dartmouth College with a Bachelor’s degree in music, earning High Honors for his thesis, “A Group-Theoretic Approach to N-Tone Harmony.”
He is a composer and multi-instrumentalist, playing trombone, piano, saxophone, guitar, flute, and electronics, as well as occasionally singing. He has experience in a wide variety of musical contexts, from jazz combos to symphony orchestras to heavy metal bands. He is also a freelance audio-visual tech and audio engineer, with wide-ranging knowledge of modern music technology and production techniques.
As an educator, Ted draws on his diverse practical and theoretical background to give students a wide-ranging perspective on music and music performance. He hopes to inspire students’ curiosity about music, encouraging them to ask big questions and challenge existing frameworks, but his primary goal is to make music fun!
