About Dr. Sophia Lin
Dr. Sophia Lin discovered her love of piano at the age of five, and that passion has shaped her career as both a performer and teacher. She has appeared as a featured soloist with the El Camino Youth Symphony and the Saratoga Symphony Orchestra and has performed at music festivals including Music@Menlo and the Gijón International Piano Festival. An award-winning pianist, Sophia has earned first prizes at the Rabinowitch Piano Competition, the Marilyn Mindell Piano Competition, and the United States Open Music Competition, and is a three-time alternate winner in the Music Teachers’ Association of California Solo and Concerto Competitions.
Sophia holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Northwestern University, a Master of Music from the Peabody Conservatory, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Miami, where she studied with Sylvia Wang, Steven Spooner, and Santiago Rodriguez. Alongside performing, she has extensive experience teaching students of all ages and levels through private and group piano lessons at the Baltimore School of Music, the Frost Preparatory Program, and the University of Miami.
As a teacher, Sophia tailors each lesson to the individual’s goals, interests, and pace, helping students develop strong musical skills and confidence while cultivating their own artistic voice.
