COVID-19 Safety Procedures

At the Christopher Laughlin School of Music we prioritize the health and safety of our faculty and students. We have put in place several new procedures to ensure a safe environment for in-person lessons.

Please watch this two-minute video on our COVID-19 response:

COVID-19 Safety

Some of the changes we’ve made are:

  • Face coverings must be worn upon entering the building
  • Students are required to wash their hands before each lesson. Three newly remodeled bathrooms and two kitchenettes are available as hand-washing stations, each equipped with touch free soap dispensers
  • Our piano studios are now equipped with a second piano so that student and teacher can be six feet apart. This also allows the teacher to demonstrate or play duets with the student without having to share a keyboard
  • Pianos keys, music stands, and other shared equipment are sanitized between lessons
  • In our voice studios we have installed plexiglass barriers between teacher and student
  • All of our teaching studios have been rearranged to allow at least six feet of distance between student and instructor
  • Our group piano classes are now limited to four students to allow for at least six feet of distance between all participants
  • In order to better maintain social distancing in our common areas we are using the door to suite 113 as our entrance, and the door to suite 114 as our exit. Both of these doors face our parking lot and are located only 50 feet apart
  • Doorknobs, sinks, and other high-touch areas are sanitized throughout the day
  • In order to reduce interaction in our waiting areas, we ask that students arrive no more than ten minutes before their lesson time. Family members may no longer wait in our waiting room during the lesson, however one parent or guardian may sit in on the lesson with their child. We ask that all students leave the building as soon as possible after their lesson
