About Torrell Moss
Torrell Moss is an accomplished and versatile percussionist based in Cleveland, recognized as principal percussionist for both the Ashland and Mansfield Symphony Orchestras. Beyond his orchestral roles, Moss is highly sought after as a freelance performer, collaborating regularly with the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Orchestra, OPUS 216, and Waterloo Strings Studio.
Originally from Buffalo, New York, Moss began his musical journey as a cellist at the age of 8, transitioning to percussion a decade later. His dedication and talent led him to be selected for the prestigious Orchestral Training Program for African American Musicians Fellowship with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in 2015, where he honed his skills over two years alongside seasoned professionals.
Moss holds an Artist Diploma from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, a Master of Music from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, and a Bachelor of Music from SUNY Fredonia. He has studied under the tutelage of esteemed mentors including Dr. Kay Stonefelt, Richard Brown, Matthew Strauss, Svetoslav Stoyanov, Tom Freer, and the percussion section of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
