
About Kai Sun
Kai Sun is a Chinese-American musician, born in Beijing, China. His primary instrument is Saxophone. His secondary instruments are Flute, Clarinet and Piano. In his spare time, Kai enjoys spending time with family, going on hikes with his dog, cooking, watching movies and anime.
Kai earned performance degrees in 2016 from Temple University, and 2020 from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. He has performed as a classical saxophonist, in jazz and hip-hop bands, and is a collaborator for new music. Kai received his Music Education degree from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. As an educator, Kai has been a private teacher for over 12 years. He’s generally flexible with teaching materials, and often arranges music and exercises his students are interested in practicing.
Kai is a freelance saxophonist, available for large/chamber ensembles, jazz bands, and as a soloist. He currently performs on Selmer saxophones/mouthpieces, Jody Jazz mouthpieces, Vandoren/Legere reeds, and Ishimori ligatures.
Teaching on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
