About Lucas Bennett
Lucas Bennett is a composer, singer, and songwriter. At 14, he began taking vocal lessons and performing through Hix Bros in Batavia. Throughout high school, he was the frontman for the progressive metal band atlasaria. Lucas performed often, sharing the stage with national touring acts such as Issues, Chon, Texas in July, the Ghost Inside, and many others.
The group played a few sold out shows and even performed at the House of Blues in Chicago. atlasaria released their debut EP “Observation | Perspective” in October 2015 and were featured in Alternative Press Magazine. At 19, Lucas began taking classical piano lessons to strengthen his overall musicality. He still relies heavily on the piano while songwriting and applying music theory. Recently, Lucas graduated from North Central College in Naperville with a Bachelors Degree in Music Composition. His senior capstone project included an hour-long concert of his own original works.
Nowadays, Lucas is the singer and songwriter behind the band Of Thought and Feeling, who have recently been featured in the Daily Herald. So far, he has released an EP entitled “Melancholy” and two singles “Apricot / Turquoise” with the group. Herbie Hancock once said “Music isn’t about music, music is about life”. This quote resonates with Lucas and is a core philosophy behind his teaching. As a teacher, Lucas cares about bringing the emotional impact of music into lessons as well as the technical. He enjoys mentoring students and using his own experiences to connect with them.
Outside of music, Lucas enjoys going for walks, reading, playing video games, and drinking tea.
