About Brian Tredup

Brian’s musical journey began at the age of 10 playing trumpet in the grade school band. However, it wasn’t long before the trumpet was put down in favor of the guitar, which proved a much better fit for a 13-year-old Brian. Following private lessons with numerous instructors, and obtaining a degree in music performance from North Central College, Brian has been teaching guitar in and around the Chicagoland area for the past 14 years. In addition to teaching, Brian is a music director at Prince of Peace United Method Church in Elk Grove. He also performs with various bands around Chicagoland. With the encouragement of Andrew Hix, Brian reluctantly picked up the ukulele but has since found great joy and beauty in playing that “tiny guitar” with 4 strings. One of the many joys of music is the journey it will take you on and the surprises you’ll find along the way. This very idea is what Brian hopes to impart on his students, and it’s a gift that will last a student a lifetime.
