About Ryan
Ryan first began to play music at the age of 5 when his parents taught him how to play the piano. Six years later, he taught himself how to play the drums and learned how to play the cello when his uncle– an experienced cellist of 20 years– introduced the instrument to him at the start of middle school. Ryan continued to play the cello in high school where he enrolled in the school’s symphony orchestra and performed in the school’s high-production musicals including “Annie Get Your Gun,” “Les Miserables,” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie”. In college (California Institute of the Arts), Ryan earned a BFA Degree in music composition and played in various string ensembles with his friends. He also played drums for his brother’s rock band. As a teacher, Ryan’s philosophy is simple: every lesson is geared towards every student. The time devoted to each portion of the lesson (scales, exercises, sheet music, etc.) is entirely adjustable / up to the student. He teaches for all ages including beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
