We’re excited to offer a comprehensive 6-week music theory class perfect for beginners of all ages. This class will provide a thorough introduction to the fundamental concepts of music theory, designed to build a solid foundation for any musician.
What You’ll Learn
- Core Concepts: Delve into note values, the musical staff, and note naming to start reading and writing music.
- Rhythms and Signatures: Understand time signatures and rhythm to bring life and timing to your compositions.
- Scales and Keys: Explore half steps and whole steps, sharps, flats, and naturals, and the structure of major and minor scales.
- Key Signatures: Learn how to identify and use major and minor key signatures in music creation.
- Intervals and More: Study intervals in major and minor contexts and familiarize yourself with essential musical signs and terms.
Meet the Instructor
Nico Van Patten Course Facilitator Nico Van Patten graduated from Purchase College’s Conservatory of Music, with a Bachelor of Music in Studio Composition. His expertise lies in pop songwriting and composing for video games, and he shares his music under the artist name XNVY.
Nico is known for crafting electroacoustic compositions that blend layers of synthesizers with organic instruments and reverberated vocal harmonies.
He has been teaching voice, music production, songwriting, and piano for 1.5 years, and is dedicated to enhancing his students’ skills while also deepening their knowledge of music theory, vocal techniques, and anatomy.
