About TJ Moran
TJ Moran teaches orchestral strings, piano, and ukulele at Grace Music School, where he has been a member of the faculty since 2018. He served as principal cellist at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, New York, where he was a founding member of the Potsdam Trout Quintet and studied cello performance under Dr. Mathias Wexler, Dr. Ignacy Gaydamovich, and Dr. Marie-Élaine Gagnon. TJ has also studied privately with Mark Summer of Turtle Island Quartet fame. TJ has given performances and masterclasses across New York State and beyond. His teaching style encourages maximizing a student’s expressive limits, while also promoting relaxed, comfortable technique that will last the student a lifetime. TJ is an active member of the Long Island music scene, specializing in jazz and contemporary cello performance. He plays all genres of music with various groups, including Ten Strings, Sad Toy Cats, and Dino Skatepark. When not teaching or performing, TJ enjoys eating good food, playing video games, and making music with his friends.
