About Allison Duggan

Allison is an award-winning composer and musician based on Long Island. Attending Syracuse University, she learned how to compose and work with string players and vocalists, while crafting her mastery in bassoon. Graduating from SUNY Purchase, she was able to perform bassoon for the operatic production of Carmen and the conservatory wind ensemble, while running a student-led bi-annual cabaret. Allison has had her work premiered at The Katra Film series as well as The Venus-Adonis Theater festival in New York City. She also has worked in digital marketing and management for Pop, Rock, and Hip-Hop artists, and has spoken on panels at SUNY Purchase and A2IM Indie Week, speaking in favor of more accessibility for diversity and room for women in the music and theater industry. Allison has performed in various venues and festivals, most notable performance at Carnegie Hall with The Metropolitan Music Community of Brooklyn, NY, and playing bassoon on “Netflix Presents Explained: Music (2017)”.

Allison began teaching piano, bassoon, and saxophone in 2017, and found her purpose to raise her students’ own voices by creating a space for students to express themselves with music that brings them joy, while implementing proper technique and practice skills. Allison has worked at Grace Music School since 2020 while obtaining her Masters in Science at Hofstra University. She has worked with kids of varying needs, and has the joy to bring these students to their full potential in musicality, while discovering tools to help assist students in social-emotional learning. She believes that every human is capable of mastering music, and caters to each student’s learning style with creativity, patience, and music that will help them succeed.

She currently performs in pit orchestras as a woodwind doubler, and is working on her first classical and songwriting album. She has performance experience on Bassoon, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, bari saxophone, Brazilian drums, pop. and rock stylings on piano, and has sung in various local groups. She teaches all woodwinds, voice, and piano.
