Northporter Named to Distinguished List

Northport resident Grace Heaphy was honored last week by the Huntington Chamber of Commerce as one of Long Island’s leading young professionals at the Chamber’s annual “30 young people under the age of 30 who make a notable impact on their business, industry and community.”

Ms. Heaphy is Music Director at Grace Music School in Fort Salonga. A graduate of Northport High School, she received her bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Manhattan School of Music and is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Piano Performance at NYU, where she is studying with Eduardus Halim, an accomplished concert pianist and former student of Vladimir Horowitz.

Ms. Heaphy has performed at Merkin Concert Hall, Steinway Hall, Staller Center, Greenfield Hall as well as other locations around New York City and Long Island. She most recently was the pianist with the orchestra, Symphony Z, as part of the Tribeca New Music Festival. Ms. Heaphy was the first place winner in the Long Island Choral Society’s 23rd Annual Young Artists Competition. She is dedicated to advancing her career as a performer and a music instructor, where she can share her love of music with others.

Ms. Heaphy is also an accomplished photographer and has won various awards. Ms. Heaphy was honored at a May 6 reception at the Crescent Beach Club in Bayville. Grace School of Music is located at 10-10 Fort Salonga Road in Fort Salonga. The school, which offers music lessons, instrument rentals and musicians for hire, opened in 2011 and has quickly become one of the premier music schools in Suffolk County with over 200 students and 20 teachers.
