At Grace Music School, we believe in surrounding yourself with music as much as possible. That why we’re starting this series to fill you in on all the amazing music programs Long Island has to offer. First up: Huntington!
Public School Programs
Huntington public schools offer several music programs for students from kindergarten to high school and all ages in between. Younger students can begin learning music literacy in elementary school, while students can start participating in choral and instrumental programs in fourth grade. For students in third to ninth grade, there is also the Summer Creative Arts Learning Experience!
Once in ninth grade, students can participate in band, choir, or orchestra programs. Huntington high schools also offer music theory classes, as well as honor ensembles such as acapella choir, jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, and orchestra chamber ensemble.
The Heckscher Museum of Art
If you are more a music appreciator than music player, the Heckscher Museum of Art offers live music performances throughout the year in a variety of genres. The museum also offers community music programs such as:
- First Friday Series
- Senior Second Wednesdays
- Exploring Art…Making Memories
Huntington Summer Arts Festival
Once warmer weather arrives, Huntington residents can attend a number of free music shows six days a week in Heckscher Park. Performers include world-class talent from around the world as well as amazing, local Long Island artists performing music, dance, and theater numbers.
