Date: Saturday, June 8th • 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM • $35
Teacher: Mate Marcina
The aim of this masterclass is to address the perceived challenges of “coming up with music on the spot”, and demonstrate that anyone can improvise if given the right tools.
We will explore:
- The many different ways in which one can think about improvisation
- Improvisation as it occurs in diverse musical styles and genres
- How to play simple musical ideas with intent
- Improvising over a simple blues form
Students should bring their instruments (if other than piano or voice) and be ready to actively participate in the masterclass. There are no age or level restrictions, but it is highly recommended that students who join the class feel comfortable navigating their instruments and are not shy playing in front of their peers.
