About Kellie
Kellie is an operatic mezzo-soprano who specializes in opera, classical, jazz, rock, metal, and contemporary vocals. Having earned her Master of Music in Voice Performance Pedagogy, she is also an accomplished voice teacher with over 15 years’ experience, teaching and accompanying students from ages 5 to 85. Originally from Colorado, Kellie earned her Bachelor of Music in Voice from Western Colorado University in 2010. She earned her Master of Music in Voice Performance Pedagogy from Arizona State University in 2014, along with completing one year of Doctoral studies in Voice Performance.
She has performed opera roles in Los Angeles, Arizona, and Colorado, as well as abroad in Freiberg, Germany and in Brisbane, Australia. Some of her favorite opera roles performed include the Sorceress from Dido and Aeneas (ASU, 2014) where she got to cackle and shoot pyrotechnic flames from her hands, and Kathi from the German operetta Im Weißen Rössl (Mittelsächsisches Theater, Freiberg, Germany, 2013), a comedic role for which she actually learned to yodel.
Kellie currently holds the alto section leader position at St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Whittier, CA. She is focused on continuing to audition for roles in opera companies, along with teaching her students. She has three very fluffy cats at home whom she serenades with her vocal practicing (they do not always appreciate it). She also has a fascination with whales – the biggest, most resonant singers on the planet. When she is not singing or teaching, Kellie greatly enjoys painting with acrylics.
