About Chasen
When Chasen was 12 years old, he first experienced the awesome power of classic rock, jazz, blues, and metal, and was completely hooked! He asked his parents for a guitar for Christmas that year, and he began taking lessons. By the time he reached high school, he knew he wanted to live a life making music.
In high school, he wanted to play in jazz band. However, one of the requirements was to participate in marching band and to play a brass or wind instrument. It was at this time that he met his saxophone teacher and mentor, and one of his future role models, Don “Hawk” Hawkins. While working with him, Chasen discovered that Don had played and toured with Lee Ferrell of the Righteous Brothers, and that Lee would bring along his baby son Will Ferrell on tour! Don continued to be a pivotal influence and inspiration for Chasen – and he strives to bring his mentor’s passion and legacy to his students today.
Chasen has many years of experience teaching students of all ages and abilities – most recently with Tritone Music Academy in Fullerton, the Irvine Music Academy, the Orange County Children’s Therapeutic Arts Center in Santa Ana, and is a 1st-4th grade after-school music teacher with Active Learning in Costa Mesa. He received his Bachelor’s in Music Performance, emphasis in guitar, from California State University Fullerton in May 2023, is an Eagle Scout, and is an OC native, graduating from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana.
