About Austin
Austin was born in Elk Grove, California where his love for music began. Both his father and brother were musicians, guiding his direction for music in his early childhood. He has been playing drums and percussion instruments for 11 years and wishes to continue growing and learning in his many years to come.
Austin has traveled across California to perform with various different ensembles and has also traveled to Ohio to play. He has played at many colleges such as CSU Sacramento, CSU San Bernardino, and University of California, Irvine, opening up chances to learn from many great musicians at the schools.
Currently, he is a member of Dark Sky Percussion, an indoor percussion group who placed 16th in the country during the 2025 season. He continues into the 2026 season looking forward to what’s to come. He is also a 2nd year at University of California, Irvine majoring in music performance. He is learning under Gary Heaton-Smith, Connie Truong, and Nathan Huxtable When playing music, Austin thoroughly enjoys having fun and would love to share this joy with his students. He focuses on creating a fun and supportive environment to ensure the students can feel confident about their skills and themselves.
