About Jean Arnold
Ms. Arnold graduated with honors from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and the Flute Performance Certificate. Following study at the Shenandoah University, Jean received a scholarship to attend the Sewanee Summer Music Center at the University of the South, Sewanee Tennessee. She has continued to study flute performance at the Shepard School of Music at Rice University in Houston, Texas, where she studied with Albert Tipton and completed the Master of Musical Arts degree. Following graduate school, Jean attended a seminar with renowned flutist and pedagogue, Marcel Moyse, in Battleboro, Vermont. She has also received coaching sessions from Toshiko Kohno of the National Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Arnold has tutored flute students in the Northern Virginia area for more than 25 years. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, international music fraternity for women, and the National Flute Association. Ms. Arnold has also performed with various orchestras and smaller ensembles in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
