Cathie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arizona State University and a Master of Music (performance major) from Northern Arizona University. Although she is classically trained, she loves all musical styles and genres. She also loves teaching and performing and has years of experience as

- Children’s bluegrass fiddle coach with Jam Pak bluegrass band, Chandler Arizona – Founding member and fiddler with The Black Velvet Band, Tempe, Arizona
- Private violin and viola instructor with the Veksler Academy of Music and Dance, Sunnyvale, California
- Concertmaster, Tempe Symphony Orchestra, Tempe, Arizona
- Concertmaster, Lyric Theater of San Jose, San Jose California Cathie believes in giving young string players a strong technical foundation, while at the same time instilling understanding and enjoyment of music from the very beginning. Like her role model, Dorothy DeLay of the Julliard School, Cathie believes that young musicians learn best when they are having fun.
