At Flatts & Sharpe we teach a variety of brass instruments – including trumpet, tuba, french horn, and trombone – each of which plays a critical role in bringing to life the music we know and love.

At Flatts & Sharpe you’ll learn the key elements of strong brass technique including breath support, voicing, embouchure, articulation, finger technique, and posture. What Is the Minimum Age to Begin Brass Lessons at Flatts & Sharpe?
When it comes to brass instruments, it’s important to not only have solid reading and comprehension skills to be successful but also have significant lung capacity. We begin brass lessons for the trumpet, trombone at the age of 7. At this point, we’ve found that students have the necessary skills to acquire the knowledge that will support playing an instrument.
Do I Need Any Prior Experience?
Brass instruments are complicated, but with the right support, anyone can learn to play the trumpet, trombone, french horn, and more. There’s no need to be nervous about getting started or striving for an ambitious goal – we welcome musicians of all backgrounds and skill levels.
