About Helena Goldberg
Helena Goldberg is a conservatory-trained musician and educator with over 20 years of experience in piano, voice, songwriting, and performance and instruction.
A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, she studied piano and composition with Marc Silverman, Richard Danielpour, and Julia Wolfe, following early training under Eric Himy, a descendant pupil of Franz Liszt. Her classical foundation was shaped through years of competitive performance with the Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association and advanced study at prestigious programs including Aspen and the Amalfi Coast.
Throughout high school, Helena began working in the field of childcare/music education and consistently volunteering music programming and lessons in elder care facilities.
She also began teaching music in summer programs throughout northern Virginia that focused on providing music learning to children on the Autism Spectrum and other special needs.
Helena focuses her methodology on a genuine love for teaching, and an appreciation for each individual’s unique instruction plan that will help them achieve their goals through music.
Helena is also the founder of Goldberg Music and Arts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (formerly Green Sloth Records), where students gain real-world experience through music production, releasing original works, and community engagement.
In addition, Helena is a founding leader of the Descendants Committee of Clarke County, Virginia, a historic initiative focused on cultural recognition.
Helena also produces and hosts events for all ages such as community engagement nights, masterclasses, open mics, karaoke events, summer programs and performance opportunities for students throughout the year.
As a performer, Helena is the vocalist, bassist, and creative force behind Akris, an original rock music project centered on immersive, conceptual work. Akris has been touring nationally, performing and releasing music since 2006.
Helena has also served as a board member and secretary for Berryville Main Street (2023-2026) and as secretary and orchestral pianist for the Main Street Chamber Orchestra
