About Bill Mercier
Bill Mercier has recently relocated to the area from Vermont where he was Adjunct Professor of Music/Voice at Castleton University. He is dedicated to helping students find their voice and developing their authentic style. His musical background includes a great deal of performing in oratorios, choral and orchestral concerts, small vocal ensembles, musical theater, and cabarets. He has performed in Italy and Cuba as well as many US states. He has conducted at the Basilica of The National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton in Emmitsburg MD and at the Basilica of The National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington DC. Many of Mr. M’s students have won National Capitol Area CAPPIES. In addition to being a frequent soloist at church, he has been Director of Music for a number of churches, and a high school choir director. He is a father of five and a grandfather of seven. Mr. Mercier says: “I have a deep enthusiasm and excitement for helping young people reach their musical goals. I enjoy helping my students develop knowledge of the vocal apparatus and mechanics of singing and breathing. I have found that most students respond well to the use of imagery to extract the emotional component of singing and I find that my flexibility, energy, ability to maintain focus on objectives, and my ability to communicate musical concepts and instructions clearly is essential to getting my students to produce better sounds. I am very accomplished at helping students build confidence, prepare for auditions and knowing what to expect when walking into an audition.
[Please note: Mr. Mercier will not take students who smoke.]
