02 We Emphasize Healthy Technique
Regardless of your ultimate goals, our teachers will prioritize strong fundamentals including proper posture, hand positioning, chords, fretting, picking, and strumming. As students progress, these basics will become second nature – and serve as the foundation from which students can apply their skills across a variety of genres and styles.
We want our guitar students to be literate, well-rounded musicians. Beginners and seasoned performers alike will find value in our approach at Ellsworth Music, coupling technical instruction with elements of music theory and music history in each lesson.

Guitar, Jazz Theory
Patrick is an accomplished musician able to instruct students in almost any genre of music….instruments include: Saxophone, Ukulele, Clarinet, Guitar, Bass, Piano, Dulcimer, and Trumpet. He is also jazz clinician at Charles Town Middle School and Shepherdstown Middle School.
Sophia Alvini-Moore
Bass, Cello
They have attended the Eastern Music Festival in 2020, 2021, and 2022 as well as the Techne Music Festival in 2022. They also earned an Honorable Mention in the 2021 Delaware Concerto Competition for Young Musicians. Sophia has twice received the James Miles Musical Innovation Grant from the Black Violin Foundation.

What is the Minimum Age to Start Bass Lessons at Ellsworth Music?
Playing the bass requires physical dexterity, muscular development and coordination as you hold the instrument, pluck strings, and create chord patterns. Of course, older students and adults are also welcome to take lessons and gain the confidence, self-discipline, and other benefits that result from playing the bass.
