About Marissa Powers
Marissa Powers is a trained Dancer/Choreographer in the styles of Acrobatics, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, Heels, and Lyrical. She is a recent graduate of Sacred Heart University (Class of 2020) and is working on her Master’s Degree in Education at the same University. Throughout her time in undergraduate studies, she was heavily involved in both the Sacred Heart University Dance Company and the Theatre Arts Program. Although Marissa has been dancing since elementary school, it is in both of those programs that she truly found her talent for both performing and choreographing. As a native of Western Massachusetts, the amount of resources that she found both on campus and in the Connecticut dance community in general when she moved here were incredible. Marissa has set pieces on the dancers of Sacred Heart University Dance Company, Choreographed multiple musicals at Sacred Heart University’s “Little Theatre,” and even performed in Bari, Italy with the Dance Company. She took her first year post-grad to cease any opportunity that she could, and has taught multiple classes to students of all ages in various styles in the Connecticut Dance Community. She also teaches drop in classes to training professional dancers at The Lab, A Creative Space, in Meriden, CT. Most recently, Marissa set a Contemporary piece on dancers from The Lab who performed it at their event, “The Lab on the Green.” Marissa is ecstatic to be teaching Tap and Jazz classes at D’Valda and Sirico this upcoming season! The students should be ready to have fun, try new things, and learn a lot from her!
