About Tori Hyman

Tori Hyman is a crossover artist and voice teacher currently based in Lafayette, Colorado. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Voice Performance from Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), and is currently seeking her Master’s degree in Voice Performance & Pedagogy at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Recent performance credits include a workshop of Michael Ching’s new opera, Overheard, as well as debuting the role of Ruth in the stage premiere of William Dawson Jr.’s Refuge: The Love Story of Ruth (FGCU). Previous roles include the title role in Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas (FGCU) and the Fairy Queen in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Iolanthe (Opera Naples Youth Company). Past engagements include serving as a soloist for FGCU’s Chamber Choir (Bach “Nimm, was dein ist, und gehe hin [BWV 144]) and Choral Artistry (Craig Hella Johnson Considering Matthew Shepard; Poulenc Gloria). She also participated in the first fully-professional in-house chorus at Artis-Naples with the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra in Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Although primarily a classical singer, Tori places high value on crossover training with an emphasis on musical theatre. Her pedagogical approach stresses the importance of spatial awareness for singers alongside understanding the historical and emotional context of a musical work. Just as no two singers are alike, there is no one-size-fits-all approach for teaching voice; lessons are tailored to each individual, taking into account different learning styles whilst meeting students where they’re at on any given day.

When she is not studying, performing, or teaching, Tori enjoys spending time hiking, reading, cooking, and crocheting. She looks forward to helping you in your singing journey and learning from each other along the way.
