About Krista Lawrence
Krista Lawrence is a classically trained soprano and vocal teacher based in Denver, Colorado. She earned her bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Wyoming in her hometown of Laramie, and then completed her masters of vocal performance in 2017 from the University of Nebraska under Alisa Belflower.
Krista has been teaching voice lessons for over a decade to students of all different ages, backgrounds, and goals. She believes each student has a unique voice and encourages individuality, grounded in healthy technique.
In addition to classical music and opera, Krista also has a passion for musical theatre. She has taken several workshops and courses specific to acting for singers. She encourages her students to not only sing their music, but to also learn how to add musicality through emotion in their songs.
As a performer, Krista recently finished touring with Madison, WI company Opera for the Young, which performs shortened for over 200 schools to introduce children to opera. She loved portraying the Queen of the Night in the Magic Flute and engaging with the next generation of musicians. Other favorite roles include Adina (the Elixir of Love), Cunegonde (Candide), Cinderella (Into the Woods), Amalia Balash (She Loves Me), and Amy March (Little Women).
Krista has performed with the Lied Center for Performing Arts, the Arts across Nebraska tour, and has been a world premiere soloist of Chris Miller’s “April Twilights” song cycle, as well as being the soprano for Elizabeth Doyle’s recording of her cycle “the Pure and the Impure”. She enjoys singing with Bethany Lutheran’s church choir as well.
Krista is thrilled to be joining Dana V Music as a voice teacher and continuing to help students find their sincere voices!
