About Aric Vyhmeister
Composer and pianist Aric Vyhmeister earned a Master of Music in Collaborative Piano at the University of Colorado Boulder under Dr. Margaret McDonald and Dr. Alexandra Nguyen. Mr. Vyhmeister is a frequent recitalist and chamber musician in the Denver area, having performed with the Boulder Opera Company, the Fine Tuned Society and recently premiered original compositions with soprano Megan Buness at the Community College of Denver, the Walla Walla University Brass Choir (Walla Walla, WA), the Maitland Symphony Orchestra (Orlando, FL), and Dr. Ashley Gulbranson at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Mr. Vyhmeister teaches music theory, composition, piano, and ensemble coaching. His teaching philosophy emphasizes setting goals broken into smaller, achievable steps for students of all levels, recognizing that learning to be comfortable with the learning process itself ultimately leads to large successes later on and is key for long-term enjoyment and growth.
Prior to becoming a full-time musician, Mr. Vyhmeister was a systems engineer with Lockheed Martin Space Systems working on various commercial space and NASA programs, and has a deep appreciation for the balance of the STEM fields and the arts, recognizing the wide range of interests and backgrounds aspiring musicians might have both in and outside of the arts.
