About Scott Mann

Scott graduated Western Connecticut State University for Music Performance in Jazz/Classical Guitar. He transferred to the snowy mountains of Fort Collins, CO in 1993 and continued in music exploring Music Education as well as Music Therapy. He spent 8 years of playing solo before feeling truly comfortable to play with other well versed players. Upon returning to CT Scott began playing with a local R&B/Jazz groups who had rotating professional musicians and over the next 7 years he would be engrossed in building his performance repertoire and learning to improvise, compose and arrange.

During this period he was teaching students from 1996- 1998 and spent a summer in Nantucket working and playing with the Nantucket Jazz Ensemble. Feeling he had reached a plateau, he enrolled at UNH culminating in a Bachelor’s degree in Music and Audio Engineering. In 2007 he moved to Austin, TX and began a 5 year career as an audio engineer. His performing and recording flowered with numerous recording dates with bands including the Austin Jazz Festival. In 2013 wanting to dig deeper he attended Southeast Tech in Red Wing, MN and for the net 2 years became engrossed in Guitar Repair and Construction. While attending classes with other orchestral and String Instrument students he began a new curiosity of bridging Classical, Jazz and World music combining folk and orchestral instrumentation. He would build 5 instruments over the next 3 years. After living outside of CT for 17 years Scott has returned to CT with a desire to be a part of a larger community with a multifaceted but singular goal. His curiosity for music has guided him into different fields but have always had their foundation in creativity and learning. He hopes to continue that path with Creative Music Center.
