About Ryan Papagelis
Ryan Papagelis is a multi-instrumentalist and composer currently residing in Bethel, CT. Primarily a saxophonist, Ryan discovered his love for music as a teenager after being exposed to the rich tradition of the Hartford jazz scene. Studying under renowned saxophonists Mike Casey and Dr. Carl Knox throughout High School, Ryan proceeded to attend Western Connecticut State University to continue his musical studies under the legendary Dr. Jimmy Greene. Throughout his undergraduate studies he performed widely with jazz combos formed by his peers, formed numerous funk groups, and toured with a Brian Setzer cover band. After graduation, Ryan continues to perform with his own group Out Of Orbit, playing both keys and saxophone as well as serving as the band’s primary composer. Ryan has been providing woodwind, composition, and piano instruction to the greater Danbury area since 2022 and is currently pursuing a master’s in music education from the University of Bridgeport. Ryan is also a substitute teacher in Danbury Public Schools.
