Orchestral Sizing Chart
GET STARTEDLearn how to properly size your child or yourself for any orchestral instrument.
To size a student or yourself for the violin or viola, you will need to measure from the base of the neck to the middle of the left-hand palm. The arm must be fully extended and raised perpendicular to the body, just like how you would hold a violin. We have sizing yardsticks for this measurement in-store.
If you are in between sizes and you are not sure, another option is to use a violin. Place the violin under your chin, then fully extend your arm and wrap your hand around the scroll of the instrument. If your fingers wrap around the scroll completely, then you are ready for that size instrument. If not, try a smaller size.
