About Creative Music Center
In July 2002, our journey began with a simple yet profound vision: to transform the lives of children and our community through the power of music. Our founder, a nationally renowned journalist, chose to leave behind a successful career for a mission close to her heart. She saw in a small music store in Monroe, CT, not just an establishment, but a potential haven for nurturing the musical talents and dreams of the young and old alike.
With unwavering dedication, she poured her energy and love into what would become the Creative Music Center, a place where music is not just taught but lived. For over two decades, we have been dedicated to her original vision, fostering joy and a deep appreciation for music in the hearts of families and musicians across Monroe, Newtown, Trumbull, and Easton.
Our founder believed in the transformative power of music, its ability to bring together communities, and its essential role in education. She was a mother herself, deeply empathetic to the aspirations of parents for their children, and an advocate for music education, tirelessly working to ensure it remains a vital part of our schools’ curriculum.
Even after her passing in January 2019, her spirit continues to guide us. Every day, our staff, inspired by her legacy, strive to emulate her passion, dedication, and approach to music education. We take pride in seeing the spark in our students’ eyes as they strike their first notes, complete their first song, and grow in confidence with each lesson.
At Creative Music Center, we believe in the joy and unity music brings into our lives. We invite you to join our community, to experience the fulfillment that comes from learning and playing music, and to continue the legacy of our beloved founder. Here, music is more than a lesson—it’s a gift for life.
LIZ REISMAN FUND FOR SCHOOL MUSIC EDUCATION
Liz Reisman was a passionate supporter of music education on a local and national level, advancing music-making opportunities for all school-aged children. To continue her work, and honor her memory for generations to come, the Reisman family created the Liz Reisman Fund for School Music Education, a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organization. This donation, together with others made in Liz’s name, now and in the future, supports NAMM Foundation grants that impact school music education and help more people experience the joys of making music.
“Liz was beyond passionate about the influence music can and should have on our youth,” said her husband Mike Reisman. “She was brought up with a flute in her hands and in many ways defined by her myriad experiences in schools, camps and community organizations dedicated to music education. One of her greatest joys was to watch the smiles of children brimming with newfound self-esteem via music.”
Consider a gift to the Liz Reisman Fund. Your gift is an investment in the transformative powers of music-making that validates our belief that music education is of vital importance to all people of all abilities across the lifespan.
