5 Things to Know Going into a New Season of Dance
GET STARTED
Starting a new activity can be overwhelming so we put together a list of five important things to know to help you feel prepared going into the new season.
- Important dates and events
There are many dates throughout our season and it’s important that our families know what’s going on and when. To make sure families have as much information as possible we add important dates to our Monday Memos sent out via email, the Welcome Video, chalkboard, and recital window in our studio, and we add events to our social media and website throughout the season.
- Your dancer’s new schedule and teachers
Our schedules and classes change every year, so when starting a new season it’s important to pick which class and time fits best for you and your family’s schedule. Our wonderful CID staff is always happy to help with any questions regarding schedules, dress code, which studio your class is in, and who your teacher is. We also host an annual Meet the Teacher event at the beginning of each season so you and your family can get to know our staff better, meet other CID families, and make sure that everyone is in the know!
- The highs and lows of dance
Some kids slide into new activities without any bumps in the road, but unfortunately that is not the case for all. If your dancer is taking time to adjust to their new schedule, that’s okay! Many kids take a while to adjust, some even as long as six weeks. This is perfectly normal and because of this, enrollment at CID is a minimum of a full-semester commitment. We want to make sure that you and your dancer have plenty of time to adjust to the new activity and have the chance to participate in at least one of our performances. Just like other activities, there are also moments of great pride and great frustration. Sometimes kids struggle to learn a new skill and that is hard, but we want to see them push through that frustration so they can experience the joy of mastering a new skill they worked so hard on!
- Cost
As with any activity, it’s important to know the financial commitment involved before you start. We make sure to clearly outline the cost of our annual membership fees and monthly tuition at enrollment so families can make an informed decision. To avoid surprise expenses down the road, CID has included costume costs in our monthly tuition, so the price you see at enrollment is the price you get. No surprises later in the season! The only thing not included in your membership or tuition is the cost of dance shoes and extra dress code.
- Your studio
Finally, especially if it’s your first season dancing, you’ll want to know what kind of studio you’re enrolling with. At Classic Image Dance we want to make sure that everyone feels included. We believe in putting family first, excellence, age-appropriate choreography and costumes, encouraging creativity, exceeding expectations, being positive role models, that all children have worth, and giving back to our community. At CID we don’t teach kids to make great dancers, we teach dance to make great kids. To make your experience great we offer four spacious studios, parent observation monitors, full-time desk staff, extensively trained teachers, convenient class times, and flexible enrollment options because at Classic Image Dance we’re about more than just great dancing.
