Play Music in a Group!
While private lessons focus on the singular student, Shred School will focus on group dynamics. Students who’ve been attending private lessons will learn what it takes to work with a group of musicians to perform a cohesive piece.
Mr. Jack will teach 6 students the fundamentals of a song and performance theory, arrange the song for multiple instruments, and how to listen to fellow bandmates as they play and as they share ideas.
Each student will be assigned to one of 6 instruments: rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass, drums, piano/keys, and voice.

What can students expect to get out of this class?
Topics discussed include song theory, performance theory, group dynamics, stage presence, song arrangement, and more! At the end of the course, students will have the opportunity to record a simple music video performing their piece. This course is a great opportunity for students looking to start their music portfolio!
What qualifies Mr. Jack to instruct this class?
Mr. Jack spent multiple summers working at a summer camp, organizing and operating their rock band program where kids would be placed into bands and learn to work together as a group synergistically. With Mr. Jack’s guidance, the young musicians he taught not only gained a deeper understanding of music and technique, but also developed crucial skills in communication, cooperation, and leadership. His positive and supportive approach to teaching helped create a love for music that lasted beyond the camp for many of the students he worked with. He has been teaching private lessons with us at Cappella and he is excited to share his passion for music with the students in this class!
Will instruments be provided for this class?
We will provide a drum kit, piano, amps, and any cables necessary. Students are required to bring their own electric guitars and bass.
