Anna is a guitarist based in Brighton, Massachusetts. A significant amount of her experience with the instrument has extended to studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and supporting local acts on the east coast in rock, contemporary classical, and metal contexts.
Anna is most familiar with sharing about rock, metal, blues, and rudimentary classical-oriented approaches to playing. In teaching, it is her aim to cultivate an appreciation for fundamentals, theory, and a comprehensive understanding of the fretboard in order for students to play songs they love effectively. The materials she uses for teaching are tailored to the students’ goals, skills, and learning style: Various texts and digital resources are utilized to learn about music, considering there is not one way to learn. Many of these materials touch upon ideas of improvisation, functional theory, and technique. Yet separate from music, she believes there is a single most efficient way to learn about fretboard organization particular to the guitar- that is the Fretboard Logic system by Bill Edwards. She looks forward to sharing this approach, and collaborating with students on what is best for them- developing comprehensive lesson plans for short-term and long-term outcomes. In this, she hopes to be an encouragement for life long playing in students of all abilities and ages.
